Volunteer With Us!

One Small House, from the Board of Directors to the people swinging hammers, is run entirely by hard-working volunteers.  It is this selfless spirit of giving and sacrifice that fuels the work we do.  Our volunteers have ranged from lawyers, to architects, to teachers, to students, to doctors.  We’ve had entire families, groups of buddies, old schoolmates and even budding romances take part in our builds.  Our mission is to make big differences in the lives of these needy families…but no one says it can’t be fun.

Here is how it works:

• • Peruse our site and get a better feel of who we are and how we operate.  While we love to have fun, our main focus is to make a difference in the lives of the families for which we build. Not only will you be giving them a new home, but you’ll also get to know them personally, as they’ll be next to you helping build.
  • Next, check out our upcoming trips and see if you think you’ll be able to join us.

What we require:

• • Each volunteer is required to pay a volunteer fee of ~$400.  This money covers all of your food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks) for the duration of the trip, lodging and ground transportation. It’ll be the cheapest vacation you’ll ever go on 😉
  • In addition, we ask that each volunteer fundraise a minimum amount. The homes we build cost around $10,000.  All of the money to fund this comes from grass-root donations.  For each home we build, we average around 100 different donors.  We ask that our team of volunteer builders help us spread the word about our noble work and help us raise this money.  A few emails, perhaps a Facebook post and we’ve seen incredible success in mobilizing a donor base.
