Migrant Caravan Support
Every day, hundreds of men, women and children flee the violence and instability of Central America’s Northern Triangle, which consists of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. It is not uncommon for these groups to merge and make the trek together in large numbers. Recently, one such caravan received attention by the US President, and in turn the media from around the globe. As the caravan has grown in size, so too has its need for support. They recently arrived in Tijuana and are currently staying in a makeshift encampment located in the Benito Juarez Sports Complex in the Northern part of Tijuana. While the Mexican government has mobilized some resources to assist this group, much more is needed. And more migrants are still on their way.
Dr. Patricia Gonzalez-Zuniga, who has the largest heart of anyone we’ve ever met, is helping to organize support for this group. Several volunteers have been on the ground providing support, including groups from Los Angeles. While medical attention is needed, so to is financial support to ensure these migrants can get the medications and services they need. At this time, more than anything, financial support is needed to purchase medications, buy wound care supplies, pay for ultrasounds, buy prenatal vitamins and much more. Dr. Gonzalez-Zuniga and our team on the ground will ensure every cent is used to help these brave and exhausted people.
