Who We Are
One Small House
is a continually growing group of friends who, twice a year, travel to
Mexico to build houses, and have lots of fun along the way! We are
mostly bi-coastal (go Oakland and New York City!) and come from
incredibly diverse backgrounds. Our common bond is that we believe in
the importance of building community by sharing the talents of all. And
of course, indulging in great tacos!
What We Do
In just five days, the volunteer team will build a simple 16' x 20'
house and latrine for a family in need. With three rooms and a small
loft space, this house will provide a simple, yet durable home from
which our families can prosper. The concrete slab is formed by local
labor and all construction materials are purchased from local
distributors. Volunteers will be called on to frame, roof, side, wire,
insulate, drywall, paint and landscape. All skill levels welcome and needed!
